This installation consists of a crocheted yarn canopy secured to railings around a student lounge stairwell in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Two condenser microphone cords are secured to the canopy. The two microphones hang down into the open air of the stairwell each at lower floor levels of the lounge. The sound picked up is streamed live via internet radio. The design of the canopy was chosen due to the proximity of the initial installation date in October (Halloween Season). This piece works within the concepts of surveillance, privacy, and disguise.
