In the froth and bubble of the rush hour I sit and dream over an apéritif. The sky is still the clouds motionless. I sit in the dead center of traffic stilled by the hush of a new life growing out of decay about me. My feet are touching the roots of an ageless body for which I have no name. I am in communication with the whole earth. Here I am in the womb of time and nothing will jolt me out of my stillness. One more wanderer who has found the flame of his restlessness. Here I sit in the open street composing my song. It's the song I heard as a child the song which I lost in the new world and which I would never have recovered had I not fallen like a twig into the ocean of time.

(Inter)Action 3/21/09
I have a piece in an upcoming exhibit out in St. Charles.

March 21 - May 30, 2009

Reception: March 21, 2009, 6-9pm

Artists: Juan and Ricardo Compean, Mathew Paul Jinks, H. Mathis, Robere Mertens, Lindsay Obermeyer, Irene Perez, John Regan and Chris Roberts

Orleans Street Gallery presents (Inter) Action, an exhibition of artwork with an emphasis on action and participation. (Inter) Action explores the conventional relationship between the artist and the audience by blurring lines between the two and in some cases reversing roles. Contradictory to traditional exhibitions, some pieces invite the audience to trade*, touch and play, while others offer insight into more intimate performance art pieces through multimedia installations.
* Visitors to the gallery are encouraged to bring a piece of their original artwork to trade with a piece of original artwork by Chris Roberts. Traded artwork should not to exceed 24in x 24in.

Get in touch with me before next Saturday and you can ride with me out there!

Look not on her beauty now
While, carelessly, she starts to weave
such wintertime complexity.
She makes these cryptic writings grow
and it is best to disbelieve,
For you are numbed with cold and she
too beautiful in so much snow;
Though she seem gentle as a dove,
Her carelessness alone would show
It is no season for new love.
2/13/09
Genius is ambivalent as a sleeping herm
And incalculable as a hurricane
But the carved stone stands, paint glows,
the word is alive on the page and breathes;
Music alone with itself and its hermetic signs
Is trapped within the inane interstices
Of the stars whose harmonies spurt like rain
and surround us with the voices of a dream.
And no hands not even yours can tease
the last overtone of phrasing from the hard keys.
When you don't take "no" for an answer, there is still a chance you'll get what you want.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

Hey folks, I'll be heading south for about three weeks to find a job in the city. I will be staying in Wicker Park. I plan on attending a Melvins show while I'm in town so if anyone is interested in joining me, I'd love the company

Well we just wrapped up a two day recording session. We were working on a Steve Mullen Project. I don't want to let to much info leak, but the project has been in development over the past couple of years and it's been exciting to see it getting fleshed out. We recorded at Rax Trax just outside of Lincoln park area in Chicago, It's a great sounding space and its pretty relaxed, i think there is more interns there than you can shake a stick at but the place runs pretty efficiently. Well back to GB.

When I get back I will resume work on my Topo Poncho, as well as start working on my x-ray paintings, and I've got to put together an installation proposal for later this summer.

If you have any questions as to what I'm working on currently please don't hesitate to email me. Best
